The FOP general membership, at the January 2010 meeting discussed and voted to ban smoking from the Squad Room Lounge at all times. It was noted that this is a health issue as well as a maintenance expense due to the "smoke eater" cleaning as well as other related cleaning issues.
The American Lung Association notes that both primary (smoking of cigarettes) and secondary smoke have serious health affects.
